Students working on diesel equipment

A 165-acre operator-training site is located approximately two miles south of the Schnnebeli Earth Science Center giving students the opportunity for extensive operator experience.

A 48,000 square foot laboratory contains dedicated teaching areas including:

  • hydraulics
  • refrigeration
  • transmissions
  • electrical
  • power trains
  • engines
  • fuel systems

Equipment used for troubleshooting, repair and service include:

  • 25+ units of heavy construction equipment and diesel trucks used as instructional equipment for operation and maintenance courses
  • 5 rental units, assuring students experience in operating state-of-the-art equipment
  • 30 late-model diesel engines
  • 20 mechanical truck transmissions
  • 10 power shift transmissions
  • 6 Allison transmissions
  • 20 drive axle carriers
  • 12 truck refrigeration units
  • 8 trucks
  • 11 heavy construction units
Students working on diesel equipment

Additional pieces of specialty equipment used to enhance instruction are 15 laptop computers, a component test bench, hydrostatic transmission test bench, and a dynamometers test room.
