Barbara Albert's career working in early childhood began while she was studying psychology at Bucknell University when she worked as a tutor for Head Start children. After receiving her Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University, she taught preschool and kindergarten. In 1994, she became a group leader at the Children's Learning Center at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She began as a teacher of preschool children and then spent eight years teaching the kindergarten at Penn College followed by two and a half years as a toddler teacher. In 2001, she received the Child Care Teacher Recognition Award from the Terri Lynne Lockoff Child Care Foundation. In 2008, she joined the Early Childhood Education program as the Program Specialist.

Deb has extensive experience working with children and adults in various settings. Her experience with children includes teaching developmentally delayed children in a Head Start setting, providing intensive mental health services to children, investigating child abuse and neglect, and providing services to abused and neglected children in placement. In addition, Deb has provided supportive services for families with a child with mental illness, developmental delays, and abuse and neglect issues. Her experience also includes mental health crisis intervention. She has provided training to prospective foster parents and to community agencies on topics related to child abuse, neglect, and separation.
