The following is a list of information that will be helpful for Computer-Aided Drafting and Product Design students interested in purchasing their own computers. Please note that purchasing a computer and the software is not a requirement.

1. General information can be found on the College website at: http://www.pct.edu/its/PersonalComputerRecommendations.htm. This information is not specific to the CAD program; however, it provides useful information beneficial to students of all majors.
2. Students in Computer-Aided Drafting and Product Design majors will be using the following CAD programs: AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks. Product Design students will also be using Algor FEA software. During the majority of the semesters, we are using the most current version of each program listed. The following websites can assist you with hardware requirements for these software packages:

   2. AutoDesk Inventor System Requirements can be found at: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=8410923&siteID=123112.
   3. Soildworks System Requirements can be found at: http://www.solidworks.com/pages/services/SystemRequirements.html.
   4. Algor is not typically purchased by students for their personal computers.
3. The following is information about acquiring the CAD software used in the curriculum:
   1. Students can download the Autodesk software. The website is: http://students3.autodesk.com/.
   2. Various retailers offer Solidworks Student Edition. Two sites are: http://www.academicsuperstore.com/manufacturer/view/solidworks and http://www.journeyed.com/home.asp.
   3. Algor is not typically purchased by students for their personal computers.
4. Recommended for students to have: architectural and engineer scale
