December 2007

Penn College was well-represented at Autodesk University 2007, held Nov. 27-30 in Las Vegas. Autodesk University is the world’s largest annual gathering of computer aided design and related professionals, with more than 10,000 working professionals, industry experts and Autodesk executives in attendance. Five faculty and staff members attended the conference, one presenting several sessions, and a model of an arbor press - completed during his freshman year by student Austin M. Upright, of Montoursville - played a prominent role.

November 2007

A member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Board of Directors has donated to the college nearly 200 mechanical drawings completed while he was student at Williamsport Technical Institute, a Penn College forerunner. David W. Conklin, who graduated from the mechanical drafting program in 1965, said he donated the 197 drawings to the college’s archives “so that current students could see how it was done prior to CAD (computer aided drafting).”

August 2007

Penn College's computer aided drafting technology major recently was recertified by the American Design Drafting Association. "It is an important credential for our department to maintain," said Katherine A. Walker, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design. "Earning recertification is a very detailed process, and our department can take pride in this continued accomplishment." The college has earned certification for its computer aided drafting technology associate-degree major every year since 1997.

Jeffrey D. Mather, a faculty member in Penn College's drafting and computer aided design department, recently passed an eight-hour examination to become a Certified SolidWorks Professional.
