Tool List
It is suggested that students have at least the recommended tools listed below. This will minimize the time spent waiting in line to obtain or return the basic tools to the room. Instructors will help identify what tools are needed during the first day of class. Free lockers are located in the laboratory area. Students must supply their own locks. Lockers must be cleaned and locks removed at the end of the spring semester or College personnel will remove and discard the items.
Required Tools:
- Industrial Safety Glasses with side shields (prescription if needed)
- Shop Apron
- Tool chest (preferably no larger than 12"x12"x24")
- Machinery Handbook
- Screwdrivers -- (flat and Phillips blades)
- Hex key set (Allen wrenches) -- standard and metric
- Adjustable wrench
- Combination square
- Layout scriber
- Screw pitch gage
- Center gage, (60 degree)
- 6" steel machinist rule
- Honing stone
- Black magic marker
- Combination lock or padlock (for personal locker)
- Micrometer 0-1", a quality brand (Starrett, Brown & Sharpe, etc.)
- 6" Calipers -- Digital or dial, also a quality brand. (Starrett, Brown & Sharpe, etc.)
- ANSI approved (steel or composite toed) safety shoes
