Manufacturing Engineering Technology
Manufacturing Engineering Technology is structured to support manufacturing operations where engineers pass plans and projects to mid-management personnel, who must carry out the planning, organization and delivery of manufacturing projects. The curriculum has a strong emphasis in manufacturing, automation, and metals-oriented industries. Students have the opportunity to prepare for mid-management and supervisory positions, as well as technical positions, sales, service or research. National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) accreditation enables our certified faculty to offer NIMS certification exams to our students. Students who successfully earn NIMS certification enjoy a competitive edge in the job market.
The department's degree programs are what we call "2+2." With a few minor exceptions, all of the courses in the Machine Tool Technology major are a part of the Automated Manufacturing major. This major is then the first two years of this major.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for example, median annual wages of salary industrial engineers were $76,100 in May 2010. The middle half of the occupation earned between $61,360 and $93,070. The bottom 10 percent earned less than $49,700, and the top 10 percent earned more than $112,830.
According to our most recent graduate survey the average starting salary for Manufacturing Engineering Technology graduates range from approximately $40,000 to $45,000.

Tools, Uniforms & Supplies
It is suggested that students have at least the recommended tools. This will minimize the time spent waiting in line to obtain or return the basic tools to the room. Instructors will help identify what tools are needed during the first day of class. Free lockers are located in the laboratory area. Students must supply their own locks. Lockers must be cleaned and locks removed at the end of the spring semester or College personnel will remove and discard the items.
Do not wear loose fitting clothing that may get caught in a machine; short sleeves or tightly rolled up sleeves are recommended. Long hair should be pulled back and securely fastened. Shop aprons should be worn to reduce the wear and tear on clothing. Safety glasses and safety shoes should be worn during time spent in laboratory area.
