Field Rotations

Paramedic students rotate through the pre-hospital setting to gain experience in assessing and treating patients.

  • Students are scheduled with paramedic preceptors to assist with their development on a one-to-one basis.
  • All of the pre-hospital skills and modalities learned in the classroom are performed in the field setting after successful attaining skill competency.
  • The student paramedic's role in the field rotations gradually increases as they progress through the curriculum, beginning as BLS providers, then functioning as ALS team members. During the final semester of the program, students are expected to function as a competent, entry-level paramedic and ALS team leader with a preceptor present for supervision
