Physical Fitness Specialist
This curriculum provides an excellent combination of exercise theory, practical knowledge, and hands-on experience. Students use a wide variety of state-of-the-art equipment that is reflective of the current practice in the fitness industry. Hands-on learning experiences, coupled with assigned clients and more than 150 hours of fieldwork in a fitness facility, distinguish this major from all others.

The Physical Fitness Specialist major at Penn College is one of 10 programs in the United States (and the only one located in Pennsylvania) that currently meets personal training education recognition guidelines recommended by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, median annual wages of fitness trainers and aerobics instructors in May 2008 were $29,210. The middle 50 percent earned between $19,610 and $44,420. The bottom 10 percent earned less than $16,120, while the top 10 percent earned $60,760 or more.
