Distance Education Master’s Degree (MHSc) Opportunity
An affiliation agreement between Penn College’s Physician Assistant program and Nova Southeastern University (NOVA) provides an avenue for students interested in earning a master’s degree. Currently, six credit hours are transferable into graduate training. During the clinical year, students can take up to two NOVA courses per semester.
Note: A master’s degree is NOT required for the practice of medicine except in Mississippi and Ohio. (Reference: http://www.aapa.org/gandp/statelaw.html)
The master’s program at NOVA offers distance learning courses and curricular components tailored to meet student interest and goals. Specialty tracks are available (e.g., Sports Medicine). For most Master of Health Science degree (MHSc) options, a minimum of 36 semester hours is required for completion. Full faculty, technical, and electronic library databases are available. More information is available on Nova’s MHS Web site.
For questions about the Penn College – NOVA agreement, please call (570) 327-4779 or e-mail Joseph Mileto, Program Director, and/or Paula Holmes, Program Coordinator.
