Physician Assistant Program Facilities
The Penn College Physician Assistant Program is housed within the Physician Assistant Center at the College. The building contains a tiered classroom with a seating capability of 50 and wireless Internet capabilities for student computers.
The rooms are equipped with a laser disc player, VCR, data projector, whiteboards, and X-ray view boxes. The classrooms have 802.11b wireless access points throughout the building.
The Anatomy lab consists of six ventilated cadaver tables, one with self-enclosed ventilation capabilities. Multiple anatomical models, skeleton, dissecting instruments, microscopes, and desks are used for instruction. The lab has a secured alarmed entrance, and PA students have access to the lab 24 hours a day. Adjacent to the Anatomy lab is a storage room for cadavers and other materials.
The Assessment lab was designed to give students realistic exposure as they learn skills necessary for PA practice. The room contains seventeen exam tables including two GYN tables. Privacy curtains, wall mounted examination otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes, sinks, and storage cabinets are present around the perimeter of the room.
A reference room is available for students 24 hours a day. This room is often used for studying, computerized CD instructional programs, small group discussions, Internet and computer access, and meetings. Also contained within the room are a plethora of current medical literature.
The PA Program office consists of staff, faculty offices, and secretarial space.
