Where can a bachelor’s degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Design Technology take you?

Accredited by the PAHRA Endorsed by the ACCA Student reading plans

Almost anywhere you’d like to go in the HVAC industry! Did you know there is a national shortage of both HVAC technicians and designers? Opportunities abound, and our graduates are well prepared to seize them!

Penn College students enrolled in the HVAC major learn the basics of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and control systems. They gain specific knowledge of the design process for ducts, pipes, and diffusers as well as the selection of HVACR equipment. They learn a variety of analysis techniques, including thermal load calculations, heat transfer by finite element analysis, and advanced spreadsheet functions. Additional course work provides instruction in HVAC system management, Direct Digital Control, Indoor Air Quality, and the environmental effects of HVACR. Essentially, our students learn to bring theoretical considerations together with a practical understanding of the system design requirements of an HVAC or refrigeration system.
