Architectural Technology
This associate's degree in Architectural Technology provides students with the knowledge and skills that lead to employment and advancement in the field of architecture. The course work enables the graduate to work in architectural or building construction related jobs or continue toward an advanced degree in a related field. The architectural technician will be involved in work requiring a knowledge of computer applications, including computer-aided drafting, construction materials, mechanical and structural systems, estimating, site and building design fundamentals, presentation methods, building codes, and specifications.

After graduation
Transferring to Penn State
Penn State will accept Penn College Architectural Technology credits into their bachelor's of Architecture degree. HOWEVER, Penn State requires that anyone graduating with their degree MUST take five years of their design studio. This means that it will take you five years to complete your degree. They make NO exception to this rule.
Penn State accepts only a few transfer students. They do not have a set number of seats to fill; they have many applicants. The portfolio review process for Penn State emphasizes art and media, rather than construction documents.
A few students from Penn College have transferred to Penn State, but most students apply elsewhere in order to spend less time getting their Architecture degree.
Transferring to other colleges
Penn College has established an articulation agreement that allows Penn College A.T. students to transfer up to 1.5 years' worth of credits into SUNY Buffalo's five-year bachelor-degree program.

The lowest 10 percent earned less than $28,220, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $67,110. Median annual wages for architectural and civil drafters in architectural, engineering, and related services were $44,390.

Computer/Software Recommendations
Students in the Architectural Technology and Building Science and Sustainable Design programs are not required to purchase their own personal computers. Many of our classrooms are equipped with computers and we have open computer labs most evenings and during the weekend.
If you choose to purchase a laptop computer for your own convenience, we advise you to look into the minimum system requirements established by Autodesk for the various software packages used by the students in our program (including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, Revit Architecture, and 3D Studio Max). We generally use the most up-to-date release of each of these programs.

Architectural Technology Advisory Committee
Advisory committees, which act as recommending bodies to the faculty and administration, consist of in-field professionals who act as partners in the development of curriculum. Their curricular and equipment advice as well as their industry connections and internship opportunities are invaluable to our students and to the growth of our institution.
