Advanced Placement for Architectural Technology
All new Architectural Technology students will be notified of advanced placement testing prior to the start of the fall semester. Advanced placement credit may be granted for:
- ACH 116 (Introduction to Computer Aided Drafting)
- ACH 117 (Basic Architectural Drawing)
- ACH 128 (Working Drawings – Residential)
Students who are seeking advanced placement credit for ACH 116 and ACH 117 must take and pass the CAD placement exam, which includes a CAD drawing project relating to these courses. Students wishing to receive advanced placement credit for ACH 128 must submit a portfolio of CAD-generated house plans demonstrating thorough knowledge of the basic competencies covered in the course. For a complete list of these competencies, request a copy of the course syllabus from the school office. Architecture faculty will evaluate the portfolio during the first eight weeks of the fall semester to determine if advanced placement credit should be given.
