Advanced Placement & Alternative Credit

New students select the appropriate department link below for information regarding advanced placement:

Currently enrolled students have the opportunity to test out of specific courses. Testing is arranged through the School of Construction and Design Technologies. Students must contact the instructor of the specific course(s) they wish to challenge.

Credit for Work/Life Experience

Students interested in obtaining credit for work/life experience should contact the School of Construction and Design Technologies for the necessary application. Along with the completed application, the student will be required to submit a notarized letter from their employer which outlines their job description, indicates their daily activities, and hours worked. The letter should also indicate to what extent the student has mastered the skills/competencies described in the course description for the course in which work/life experience credit is desired. Students may also submit portfolio documentation. A faculty committee will review all documentation and render a decision. All students applying for work/life experience credit are assessed a $50 non-refundable fee.

Credit for Internship Experience

Students may also elect to take courses as a co-op experience during both the school year and during the summer. Internships must be pre-arranged with the internship coordinator and the secretary to the assistant dean. Field visits by appointed faculty will also be done on a routine basis. Credit will be awarded based on periodic employer reports of the student’s progress.
