Advanced Placement & Alternative Credit
Advanced Placement
New students – select the appropriate department link below for information regarding advanced placement:
- Architectural Technology and Building Science and Sustainable Design: Architectural Technology Concentration (BSD)
- Construction Technology
- Electrical Technology
- HVAC Technology
Currently enrolled students – contact the School of Construction & Design Technologies to arrange to test out of specific courses. You must contact the instructor of the specific course(s) you wish to challenge.
Credit for Work/Life Experience
Contact the School of Construction and Design Technologies for the necessary application. Along with the completed application, you must submit:
- a notarized letter from your employer which outlines your job description, your daily activities, the number of hours you worked, and a statement indicating to what extent you have mastered the skills/competencies described in the course description (for the course for which you wish to receive credit);
- portfolio documentation (optional);
- A $50 non-refundable fee.
A faculty committee will review all documentation and render a decision.
Credit for Internship Experience
You may elect to take courses as a co-op experience during both the school year and during the summer. Arrange your co-op (internship) with the School of Construction and Design Technologies' internship coordinator and the secretary to the assistant dean.
Credit will be awarded based on periodic employer reports concerning your progress. Appointed faculty will also schedule routine visits to your internship location.
