Motorsports Service Technician

Parkes Automotive Technology Center, Rm. 126 · (570) 320-2400, ext. 7924

In addition to its other, more traditional automotive training programs, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Transportation Technology offers a Motorsports Service Technician competency credential.

Many of the components and systems used in race cars are substantially different than those used on production cars. This unique series of courses — providing training in parts, systems and techniques used for race car service and construction — will prepare students for entry-level employment as service technicians in the motorsports field.

In the Motorsports Competency Credential program you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most sophisticated engine dynamometer equipment on the market today. Our facilities include:

  • a super stock GT dragster
  • two race car chassis
  • two chassis dynamometers
  • an engine dynamometer
  • state-or-the-art flow bench equipment
  • computer-aided engine build-up dyno testing

This credential is available to experienced, certified automotive technicians or full-time students enrolled in one of the automotive majors at Penn College.
