Graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Physical Fitness Specialist program will understand basic physiological responses to exercise. They will be able to demonstrate safe, effective, and fundamentally sound techniques of fitness assessment and exercise prescription.

The Physical Fitness Specialist associate's degree prepares students to enter the fitness employment market by providing an excellent combination of exercise theory, practical knowledge, and hands-on experience.

The program emphasizes assessment and exercise prescription in the following areas:

  • Body composition and weight management
  • Nutrition
  • Cardio respiratory fitness/group fitness
  • Muscular strength and endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Functional and integrated movement

The faculty have extensive experience in physical fitness programs and constantly strive to keep abreast of new training programs and techniques.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s fitness and lifetime sports program is among a select few recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association - a worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. Our educational programs – a bachelor’s degree in applied health studies: physical fitness specialist concentration and an associate degree in physical fitness specialist – have met and continue to meet educational guidelines recommended by the NSCA.
