Achievements

Student Competitions

  • A team of Construction Technology students took third place in the 2-year division of the post-secondary construction competition at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida in January, 2007. The 2-year team members were: Joe Hillyard, Brian Ferguson, Seth Culbert, Jason Detwiler, and Andrew DeGregorio. The 4-year team placed 14th in a field of 37 college and universities. The 4-year team members were: Hilary Allegretto, Ben Copenhaver, Trevor Krize, Derek Rinaldo, Matt Divok and Thomas Wisse. Faculty advisors accompanying the students were Barney Kahn, PCCA advisor, Garret Graff, co-advisor, and Rick Druckenmiller, former advisor.
  • A six-member group of Construction Management students placed first in the Heavy Highway category in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) regional competition in Fairfield, NJ in November, 2006. All of the teams were presented with mock projects that approximated real-world construction jobs, and were judged on such skills as estimating, bidding, and construction techniques. Another team of CM students placed third in the Design/Build category. The Heavy Highway team members were: Nick Angelopulus, Richard Donovan, Kyle Flook, Daniel Kmetz, and Stephen Langendoerfer. They will represent Penn College in March, 2007 at the ASC Nationals in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Dennis Dorward and a team of five Construction Management students traveled to San Antonio, Texas March 19-23, 2007 for the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) National Competition. The student team members were: Nick Angelopulus. Richard Donovan, Kyle Flook, Daniel Kmetz, and Stephen Langendoerfer.
  • A group of Construction Management students and advisor Wayne Sheppard attended the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Conference/Competition in Nashville, TN March 20-25, 2007. The team members were: Todd Niedosik, Ryan Becker, Katie Chearney, Matt McGrath, James Craft, and Courtney Schreiner. The team placed sixth in a field of 24 competitors.
