"What Should I Bring to College?"

Listed below are a few items you may wish to bring to college. We suggest that you discuss with your roommates who will bring these items before arriving on campus.

Necessities (items that are a "must")

  • Bed linens - Twin Size
    • (Note: All the mattresses are longer than the standard twin size. They are 36" x 80".) Linens are available at all major department stores or visit www.rhl.org/pnt/.
  • Mattress cover
  • Sheets and pillowcase
  • Blanket and/or comforter
  • Pillow
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Alarm clock
  • Phone
  • School supplies (paper, pens, scissors, three-ring notebook, stapler, etc.)
  • Stationary, address book and stamps (for writing family/friends)
  • Personal items (soap, hair needs, toiletries, etc.)
  • Hangers for clothes
  • Laundry detergent/dryer softeners and laundry basket/bag
  • Iron/ironing board
  • Wastebasket/trash bags
  • Quarters (for washers, dryers, vending machines)
  • Basic kitchen needs (silverware, manual can opener, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, microwavable dishes, food storage containers, dish towel, dish soap)
  • Bathrobe
  • Basic cleaning supplies (glass cleaner, furniture polish, bathroom cleaner, paper towels, sponge, broom, dustpan, mop and dust cloth)
  • Tissues and toilet paper
  • Bandages/aspirin/ibuprofen and other necessary medications
  • Sports equipment and various games (board games, cards)
  • Raincoat/umbrella
  • Key chain
  • Small sewing kit
  • Flashlight
  • Posters/pictures
  • Decorator items
  • Doormat
  • Shower curtain
    • The Village – 6’ x 3’
    • Campus View – 5.75’ x 5.75’
    • College West – 5.75’ x 5.75’
    • Rose Street – 5.5’ x 3’
  • Toilet Plunger (one per apartment)
  • Lamps (Campus View residents will need a living room floor lamp and residents of Rose Street Apartment will need a lamp for the bedroom.)
