Wait List Manager

The wait list manager is a tool students will access through the Student Information System to view/change their wait list requests for each semester. It will also display when the nightly runs of the automated wait list system will begin and end. The wait list manager will display the following six columns of information concerning the student’s wait list request:

Class – Lists the class and section the student has selected to be placed on the wait list

Priority – If a student has indicated they want to be on the wait list for multiple sections at the same time of the same class, this waiting list manager option allows students to indicate their preference for which section should be looked at first.

Position – Shows a student where their request is on the wait list for that particular course/section.

Class to Drop – Indicates which (if any) class on the student’s current schedule should be dropped if an opening occurs in the wait list course. This wait list manager option should be used if a scheduled course has a time conflict with the selected wait list course.

Status – Allows a student to start or stop the processing of a wait list request. Active requests will be processed, inactive requests will not be processed. When a student changes a wait list request to inactive, the current position of that wait list request will be lost when the wait list system is updated overnight. If a wait list status is changed from inactive back to active, the student will be moved to the last position for that wait list request.

Comment – Indicates if a wait list request was approved or rejected. If approved, the comment will indicate the request was approved and lists the class/section that was added to the student’s schedule. If disapproved, the comment will indicate why the student was not scheduled into the open seat. All scheduling rules checked in web scheduling (e.g. class conflict, pre/corequisites problems, credit overload, etc.) will be checked again by the automated wait list process. If any web scheduling requirements are not met, the automated system will consider the next person on the wait list.
