Wait List FAQs

Do all students have the ability to use the wait list?

No, only current students have access to the wait list. New, transfer and reenrolled students will not have the ability to use the automated wait list system.

What is the first day I can request to be placed on a wait list?

You can make a wait list request the first time you have access to Web Scheduling. The day and time you can access web scheduling will be indicated on your scheduling profile.

What is the last day I can place my name on a wait list?

The last day you can place yourself on a wait list for a particular semester is indicated on the scheduling calendar.

Can I add a wait list request if I have already scheduled my classes?

You can add a wait list request anytime during the initial scheduling period, even if you already have an initial schedule. Check the scheduling calendar for the last day you can place your name on a wait list.

Is there a limit to the number of classes that I can wait list?

No, there is no limit to how many classes/sections you can request.

How can I check the position and status of my wait list request?

The position and status of your wait list request can be checked through the Wait List Manager, located in the Student Information System (SIS) under Academic Information. The "Position" column indicates how high your name is on the list for a particular course. The "Comment" column will indicate if the wait list request was processed.

Can I be both scheduled and wait listed for different sections of the same class?

Yes. You can request to be on the wait list for a different section of a class already scheduled. You will need to indicate, using "class to drop" column of the Wait List Manager, that the currently scheduled course should be dropped if an opening occurs in the wait-listed course. Otherwise, your wait list request cannot be processed. The Wait List Manager is located in the Student Information System (SIS) under Academic Information.

Can I wait list a class that conflicts (in meeting time) with another scheduled class?

Yes. You can wait list a course that has a time conflict with a currently scheduled class. You will need to indicate, using "class to drop" column of the Wait List Manager, that the currently scheduled course should be dropped if an opening occurs in the wait-listed course. Otherwise, the system will not be able to process the wait list request due to the time conflict. The Wait List Manager is located in the Student Information System (SIS) under Academic Information.

How do I change a wait list request?

You can change/manage your wait list requests through the Wait List Manager, located in the Student Information System (SIS) under Academic Information.

Can I withdraw a wait list request?

Yes. You can make a wait list request inactive under the "Status" column on the Wait List Manager. Requests marked inactive will not be processed. When a student changes a wait list request to inactive, the current position of that wait list request will be lost when the wait list system is updated overnight. If a wait list status is changed from inactive back to active, the student will be moved to the last position for that wait list request. The Wait List Manager is located in the Student Information System (SIS) under Academic Information.

How long will my name remain on a wait list?

Your name will remain on the wait list for a particular course up to the first day of the semester. The last day the wait list processing will run automatically is listed on the Wait List Manager. The Registrar’s office will manually run the wait list process for the last time prior to the semesters Drop/Add & Late Registration period.

Are the credit hours from the wait list requests counted in determining official enrollment status for financial aid assistance?

No, official enrollment status is based on the number of credit hours for which you have scheduled. Wait list hours are not counted when determining enrollment status.

What about fee payment?

Fees from the wait list schedule adjustments are held to the same fee payment schedule as traditional scheduling.
