Adding/Dropping Classes
Degree seeking students must be enrolled by the close of business on the first day of any academic semester. Non-degree students must be enrolled by the close of business on the last day of the first week of classes for any given semester.
Weeks listed below pertain to 16-week classes only. Actual dates for the current semester can be found on the Registrar's home page. Short-term classes will have prorated dates. Contact the Registrar's Office for prorated dates.
Adding a Class
1st week of classes – You may add a class with your signature and your adviser's signature. If you are changing only a section number, only your signature is required.
2nd & 3rd weeks of classes – You may add a class with your signature and the signatures of your adviser and the class instructor.
After the 3rd week of classes – You may add a class with your signature and the signatures of your adviser, the class instructor, and the Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Services.
Dean or assistant dean approval is also needed if you are overloading a class, a restriction is being lifted, or your schedule is overloaded.
Non-degree students will follow all the rules listed above with the exception of the adviser signature and the student overload. Prerequisites apply to non-degree students, as well as degree-seeking students.
Dropping a Class
Thru the 3rd week of classes – You may drop a class without a "W" grade or instructor signature. Adviser's approval is required. If dropping a class during the 2nd or 3rd week of classes, it is preferred that you visit the Registrar's Office to assure correct tuition reimbursement for the class(es) dropped.
4th - 13th week of classes – You may drop a class with a "W" grade. You will need the signatures of your adviser and class instructor.
Students do not have the option of withdrawing from their developmental courses and receiving a grade of "W". Only the Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Services can approve a request for a hardship withdrawal from a developmental course.
After the 13th week of classes – Dropping a class is not an option without a written appeal from the class instructor to the Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Services.
