Rotational molding is the art and science of turning plastic powder
in useful hollow plastic objects. Swing arm, shuttle, clamshell
and "rock-'n-roll" machines are used in the industry to produce
objects ranging from plastic beach balls to 20 foot canoes.
This PREP site will feature a typical shuttle machine, a typical
process cycle, and give the student a range of products that can
be expected. It will also give some idea of the sintering process
associated with rotational molding. Multi-media including video
clips, digital stills and text will

be used to give the student a virtual tour of this economically
important process.
