Residence Life Presents RA Honors for November/December

Exemplary Resident Assistants and events for November/December have been announced by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Residence Life Office.
RA of the Month

Josh Wilson, an accounting major from Landisville who serves The Village at Penn College, was selected as Resident Assistant of the Month.
"Perhaps his greatest asset is his dedication and motivation to the Residence Life program," office staff noted. "He’s an RA that has been consistent and worthy of recognition since he started as a staff member last fall. He is committed to his residents and takes ample time in getting to know each one of them. He has proven to be a solid member of our team."

Staff called particular attention to Wilson's well-attended quality programming, a "prime example" of which was an ice-skating outing that he and another RA organized.
Rising Star of the Month
Honored as the Rising Star of the Month was Adam Feather, of Bally, an RA at Campus View Apartments and a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology major.

“This RA is a hard worker and was selected by his staff for his outstanding programming efforts and enthusiasm,” staff wrote. “He knows his residents very well and continues to work with them as changes occur in his community. He seeks help when it's needed, takes on extra work when necessary and is a willing volunteer.”
Educational Program of the Month
Chosen as the most noteworthy educational program for the period was a Campus View Bowling Program presented by four Resident Assistants there: Maggie Hickey, of Upper Darby, advertising art; Ashlin Hollinger, Columbia, plastics and polymer engineering technology; Matt Miller, Elliottsburg, graphic design; and Justin Weaver, Hanover, computer aided product design.

These Resident Assistants took a traditional program and made it unique by incorporating an unlikely educational twist,” Residence Life staff wrote. “Working with bowling faculty and Faxon Lanes, the RAs hosted a program that offered participants a 'behind-the-scenes' look at the bowling alley. In addition to the traditional two hours of bowling and pizza, the participants had the opportunity ... to see how the pins and ball returns work.” With more than 30 people in attendance, staff added, the program was as educational as it was fun.

Social Program of the Month
Lauded as the month’s most notable social event was a Rose Street Scavenger Hunt arranged by Rose Street Apartments RAs Jeff Eshenour, a web and applications development student from Elliottsburg; Marissa Koch, a technology management student from Coal Township; and Sarah Shott, of Tresckow, also enrolled in the web and applications development concentration.
"In this fun and interactive program, residents were given clues to lead them from one place to another within the Rose Street complex. Each clue had residents interacting with a different staff member, getting them better acquainted with their Rose Street family," staff said. "Residents turned out in huge numbers to participate, and some great Penn College gear was given away as prizes. It was a great program resulting in some very happy residents.”
