Members of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers attended a recent Central Pennsylvania District student conference in Harrisburg.

Deshawn M. Alexander, Nassau, N.Y.; Robert J. Champe, Washington; Gregory D. Coppola III, Harleysville; Justin E. Gombert, Allentown; Tiffany L. Madara, Paxinos; Lars N. Nielsen, Stow, Mass; George R. Urschel, Loudonville, N.Y.; and Michael L. Way, Kempton – all juniors or seniors in the four-year HVAC technology major – attended the April 9 event. Members of The Pennsylvania State University student chapter also were on hand.

“The students presented their custom-made cooling system (a small chiller used to cool large buildings), which was well-received by the audience as a powerful demonstration of theory and practice,” said Thomas E. Ask, associate professor of HVAC technology/mechanical refrigeration and design in the college’s School of Construction and Design Technologies.

In addition, Matthew P. Robinson, of Williamsport, a junior in the bachelor’s program and treasurer of the Penn College student chapter, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Central Chapter of ASHRAE based upon the recommendation of Ask, his faculty adviser.
