A student in the occupational therapy assistant major at Pennsylvania College of Technology was recently honored with national and state scholarship awards.

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation awarded Holly L. Montarsi, of Howard, the Willard and Spackman Memorial Scholarship. This $2,000 award is generally offered to post-baccalaureate applicants; however, the selection committee recognized Montarsi’s sustained excellence in academic achievement in the associate-degree program, her commitment to the profession and her potential for future professional development.

Montarsi was also presented with a $1,000 scholarship award from the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.

“The staff and faculty of the occupational therapy assistant program are very proud of her accomplishments,” said Barbara J. Natell, director of the program. “Holly will be a wonderful ambassador for the occupational therapy assistant program and Penn College.”

Montarsi plans to graduate with the occupational therapy assistant Class of 2009 in August.
