Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Club and their adviser recently attended the American Occupational Therapy Association’s annual conference, where they attended workshops, short courses, poster presentations, roundtable discussions, meetings and forums.
The students also visited the exhibit hall, featuring several hundred vendors displaying the latest in occupational therapy-related products and companies recruiting Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants for employment.
The annual AOTA conference was held in Long Beach, Calif., April 9-13.
“National conference afforded the students an opportunity to learn from leaders in the OT profession and be exposed to thousands of occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants,” said Patricia J. Martin, the club’s adviser and clinical director of the occupational therapy assistant program. “Attending conference gave students a chance to see firsthand what their professional association does and fostered a sense of commitment to being an active member of the association.”
