Penn College Wildcat Tales
Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams both went 2-0 during the week to remain unbeaten at 3-0 in Penn State University Athletic Conference play.

Men
Playing on the road Thursday, Penn College outscored Penn State Hazleton 30-27 in the second half to pull out a 70-67 win. Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) had a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Greg Solyak (Lancaster) scored 18 points, Noor Ford (Williamsport) matched his previous personal-season high with 15 points, and Joe Simon (Renovo) added 13 points.

At home Saturday against Penn State Scranton, Joiner had another double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 99-70 win that pushed their overall record to 5-7. Phil Kaylor (Lebanon) added 14 points and Solyak 11. Simon’s scoring total for the week moved him to within 20 points of the all-time school record of 1,196 set by Craig Flint last season.

The Penn College men are ranked No. 8 in the most recent United States Collegiate Athletic Conference Coaches Poll.

Women
Thursday at Penn State Hazleton, the Wildcats opened a 31-22 halftime lead and went on for a 53-36 victory. Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) scored 14 points, while Jessica Hohman (South Williamsport) pulled down 10 rebounds.

Saturday at home against Penn State Scranton, Steer hit on 10 of 14 shots from the field to finish with 21 points and Hohman added 14 points in a 61-42 victory.

Penn College is 4-5 overall.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Playing a schedule stacked heavy with games this semester, both the men’s and women’s teams will be busy, to say the least. Over the next five weeks, the men play 14 regular-season games and the women play 16. This week alone, each team plays four times, and the women hit a stretch in early February where they are in action four consecutive days and five out of six.
