Nearly 40 ninth- and 10th-grade girls attended a SMART Girls (Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies for Girls) camp at Pennsylvania College of Technology from July 11-14, 2004. During the camp, girls participated in workshops that emphasized science and math, including designing bridges, using forensic science to solve a crime, learning computer skills and exploring health occupations. They also took field trips to The Pennsylvania State University, where they visited the university's Nanofabrication Facility and Pennsylvania Transportation Institute, and to Penn College's Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville.
