Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center traveled to Elimsport Elementary School on Friday, April 22, helping elementary pupils from the Montgomery Area School District celebrate Earth Day. Groups of third-, fourth- and fifth-graders rotated among a dozen information stations prepared by Penn College students – some of them hands-on, all of them instructional – in areas ranging from seed dispersal and tree-trimming to wood products to outdoor recreation. One of the stations offered planting tips to the schoolchildren, each of whom was given a white-pine seedling to take home. Accompanying the students, drawn from forest recreation and wildlife management classes in the college's School of Natural Resources Management, was Dennis F. Ringling, professor of forestry. Coordinating the program at the school were Karen Snyder, elementary principal, and Corey Twigg, fifth-grade teacher.
