2008 Welcome Weekend
Welcome Weekend gave Pennsylvania College of Technology the opportunity to greet incoming students, easing them and their families into new surroundings with smiles and helpful advice. Saturday was check-in day, as the college community helped newcomers navigate main campus and take care of last-minute odds-and-ends – buying textbooks, opening bank accounts, stocking cupboards, saying "goodbye" – before Monday's start of classes. Sunday's activities included Campus Fest, a premier summer event featuring live music, free food, custom T-shirts, face-painting, photo flip-books, games and more. Students also could pick up information as they visited with various college offices and campus organizations, collecting signatures on their way toward qualifiying for a grand prize of $1,000 toward tuition. Sunday afternoon also included valuable information sessions and a chance for students to get further acquainted with new friends in a new home; the evening brought welcoming messages from President Davie Jane Gilmour and other college officials, fireworks and hypnotist Sailesh.
