Twenty Pennsylvania College of Technology students and 15 students from area secondary schools competed in a welding contest held in the college's Avco-Lycoming Metal Trades Center on Feb. 22. The contest, conducted by the Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Welding Society, was judged by Adam Steppe, of High Steel Industries, and Niles Oehrli, from Moody International. Students from three area high schools – Williamsport Area High School, Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School, and SUN Area Career and Technology Center – also competed against one another. Winners will be announced and honored at a banquet on March 5.
