PCToday Photo Gallery - Chocolate Houses, Other Sweet Treats Auctioned in Benefit

A chocolate village created by students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality – along with an eye-catching variety of holiday cakes, cookies, candy and chocolate sculptures  – were auctioned Monday to raise more than $1,240 for various projects. The village pieces were sold in a silent auction between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and a "live" auction was held for the other treats beginning shortly after 1. With the exception of two of the chocolate structures, all proceeds benefit Williamsport/Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. A total of $1,119 was raised for Habitat, and the $125 high bid attracted by the library will go toward the Roger and Peggy Madigan Library under construction at the college entrance. A hospital (not available to be shown here) created by Angela L. Hess, of Lewisburg, was displayed at various sites on the Geisinger Medical Center campus and reportedly has attracted much public and media comment. The Penn College event, held in the Thompson Professional Development Center, was postponed from Friday due to the weather-related closing of the college.
