Winning Photo Chosen in Library-Themed Contest

Matthew J. O'Brien, an electronics and computer engineering technology student from Pottstown, is the Fall 2006 winner of the PCToday Photo Contest. This semester's competition invited faculty/staff and students to celebrate the opening of the Madigan Library through photos of any aspect of the library (interior and exterior): a favorite study spot, a particularly engaging design feature or especially helpful librarian, anything that spotlights this magnificent and functional addition to the campus landscape. For lending his creative eye, O'Brien receives a $25 gift card from the College Store and Bookmarks Café. And, because the contest attracted some stunning views of the newest campus landmark, we'll showcase several excellent "honorable mentions," as well. Watch PCToday for details of the Spring 2007 competition.

This semester's winning photo, submitted by Matthew J. O Brien, provides a refreshing view of the southwest side of the library one not readily visible to those accessing the building from the main entrance on the opposite side.

Clayton B. Morrow, an information technology-security specialist major from Loysville, offered this look at the library's water feature, sparkingly picking up color from the building's distinctive red tile.

Nickolas A. Falvo, of Cogan Station, a mass media communications student, chose as his subject the dancing interplay of light reflected on the library floor.

Sonya K. Miller, an assistant group leader in the college's Children's Learning Center, captured this art-struck youngster, dwarfed by a sculpture in the Gallery at Penn College on the library's third floor.
