The family of a former Penn College student who died in a traffic accident in June 2005 has established a scholarship fund in his memory. The Penn College Foundation has received a donation to establish an endowment for the Joshua R. Geary Memorial Scholarship. Geary was a Williamsport Area High School graduate who attended Penn College in 1996-97, majoring in general studies with a focus on business courses. He later transferred to The Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in economics. “Education was a high priority for Joshua,” said Kathy Waltz, Geary's mother. “His family was always proud of his academic achievements and feels a scholarship in his memory is a fitting legacy. I know Joshua would be pleased to know he was helping other students receive a high-quality education.”
