Robert Slothus, director of radiography at Pennsylvania College of Technology, offered input on the first draft of a radiography textbook to be published in 2010.
Slothus completed a review for “Digital Radiography: An Introduction for Technologists,” offering insight on the book’s content and format. The book, written by Euclid Seeram, is slated to be published in October 2010 by Delmar Cengage Learning.
The textbook is written for use in courses in radiographic imaging procedures, production and exposure. In the profession, X-ray film images are being replaced with digital technology. Slothus has been teaching emerging digital-imaging technologies to students for about three years, and reviewing one of the newest textbooks offered him additional insight in teaching his Digital Acquisition and Display course.
“It was a benefit for me and my senior radiography students,” said Slothus, who will be credited as a reviewer in the book.
Slothus has taught at Penn College for 30 years and has obtained the academic rank of associate professor. He holds a master’s degree in health education from The Pennsylvania State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from Thomas Jefferson University. He has been a registered and certified radiographer with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists since 1975 and a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists since 1977.
