Penn College to Host Summit for Welding Educators

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a Secondary and Postsecondary Welding Educators Summit on April 6 to discuss a variety of issues in welding education in Pennsylvania.

The event, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Thompson Professional Development Center, is sponsored by the National Center for Welding Education and Training (Weld-Ed) at Lorain County Community College, Lorain, Ohio, and Penn College, a Weld-Ed regional center.

Topics of discussion include an overview of Weld-Ed, a National Science Foundation-funded program to strengthen welding education; professional-development needs among welding educators; student-recruitment strategies; welding’s role in Marcellus Shale natural-gas exploration; and the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act.
