She is the only recipient from among 12 dental hygiene education programs in Pennsylvania.&lt;/span&gt;</description>

   Penn College presented Brian M. Webster with an Alumni Humanitarian/Citizenship Award during a Winter Commencement ceremony at the Community Arts Center. Webster was awarded an associate degree in nursing from the college in 2006 and received the Shirley Novosel Memorial Award for clinical excellence and client advocacy that same year. A registered nurse clinical supervisor for the Susquehanna Health Emergency Department, Webster has participated in five medical-relief trips to earthquake-ravaged Haiti since January 2010.&lt;/span&gt;</description>

   Kathrine E. Dixon, a dental hygiene: health policy and administration concentration major from Houtzdale, has been chosen as the October “Student of the Month” by the Student Government Association at Penn College. Dixon, set to graduate in 2014, is a Resident Assistant in on-campus housing, a participant in the Penn College Presidential Leadership Program, president of the college’s Earth Smart Club and the first recipient of the Tracy A. Garis Memorial Scholarship. “One major strength is Kathrine’s mature, conscientious approach to her academic work,” her faculty nominator wrote. “Not only were her assignments submitted on time and in a manner consistent with the directions, her work was consistently superior. The level of her work bespoke her attentiveness in class.”&lt;/span&gt;</description>

   Two teams from Penn College placed in the top three recently during a competition against students from seven other hospital and college radiography education programs. Fifteen students volunteered to represent the college&#39;s Radiography Program’s Class of 2012 in a “Technibowl” – a quiz competition – held at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and hosted by the Penn State Hershey Radiography Club. The event showcased the students’ curricular knowledge in radiation protection, physics, anatomy and physiology, radiographic exposure and positioning, and clinical and digital imaging. First-place winners were Dennis L. Fetters Jr., of Bellefonte, and Jason A. McWilliams, of Lock Haven. Third-place winners were Blair M. Cillo, of Williamsport and Sierra L. Petro, of Pottstown.&lt;/span&gt;</description>

Now, the School of Health Sciences has established a scholarship fund to provide financial support for more of its students. The School of Health Sciences Endowed Scholarship Fund has been seeded with $7,000 received over the past few years through gifts from alumni and other supporters directed to the school. Penn College’s Institutional Advancement Office is seeking donations toward building the fund to an endowment of at least $25,000, after which will it become a permanent source of scholarship awards.&lt;/span&gt;</description>
