by Shelley Moore

Youngster chooses collision repair for a career

It's never too early to start
career planning! This youngster chose collision repair.

You have done it – maybe you feel you did it well, maybe you feel there are things you can share to help your student learn from challenges you have experienced. What is it? Career planning. But how do you turn your wisdom into something that will make a difference in your student’s life? It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3.

Summer courses can help students catch up or get ahead in their studies. Additionally, certain first-level courses are available at a 25% discount during the summer. It's recommended to schedule and register for summer classes by May 4.

It’s also not too late to secure on-campus housing for the summer. Residence Life offers affordable, clean, and convenient housing for students attending Penn College in the summer. By living on campus, students are in the heart of College life with access to many excellent resources.

The Summer 2011 Housing Contract is now available. Students only need to sign up for the number of weeks they need housing. The Application/Contract for housing is available on the Student Information System:

On-Campus Housing: End-of-Year Checkout

Moving out

It is time to start planning and preparing for end of the year on-campus housing checkout. Each year students are scurrying around attempting to complete finals, saying goodbye to friends, and then figuring out how to get their belongings home. A good strategy to employ is to begin taking items home now through the end of the semester. The weather will be warmer which means a lot of the winter clothing that takes up so much space can return home. Most importantly, developing a plan for packing can prevent a lot of anxiety and stress during closing. Encouraging your student to pack smart in boxes or plastic containers can make the move out process a lot more enjoyable.

Important dates and instructions for checking out of the residence halls can be found on the Residence Life Web page:
