Workshops
Basic First Aid
Learn basic first aid and CPR skills utilizing curriculum developed by the American Heart Association. Advanced life-saving interventions are used to address the various issues discussed during the course content. Students successfully completing this class receive First Aid and CPR Certification.
Advanced Lifesaving Skills Lab
Explore the EMT-Paramedic skills routinely used during life-saving incidents. Students learn to initiate an IV, apply cardiac monitoring and perform defibrillation, orally intubate a 'patient', and try their hand at employing immobilization skills.
Rescue Operations
Gain first-hand experience on EMT-Paramedic basic rescue operations frequently encountered in the pre-hospital environment. Activities include:
- Vehicle extrication: Learn to stabilize vehicles and extricate simulated victims using various hand tools and cribbing.
- Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA): Learn what it’s like to enter an unstable building wearing SCBA and conduct a search operation.
- Rope rescue: Learn the basics of knots and rigging followed by an opportunity to rappel from a fixed structure.
