New Scholarships

Penn College and the Penn College Foundation established 18 new scholarship funds in 2010-11.

Susquehanna Health Scholarship was established by Susquehanna Health to benefit students in the School of Health Sciences who reside in northcentral Pennsylvania and are a dependent or an immediate relative of an employee at Susquehanna Health.

PAGasDirectory Scholarship was established by a local business to benefit students who, in high school, participated in a dual-enrollment course relating to the natural gas industry and are currently first-year students in one of several associate- or bachelor-degree programs that will prepare them for a potential career in
the natural gas industry.

Tracy A. Garis Memorial Scholarship was established by the Student Government Association at Penn College in memory of Tracy A. Garis, a dental hygiene student, Resident Assistant and Student Ambassador who passed away in an automobile accident. The scholarship will benefit students in the dental hygiene major who are active student-leaders on campus.

Jeannette F. Carter Scholarship was established by Penn College employee Jeannette F. Carter to benefit students enrolled in any associate-degree program.

Alex Rinedoller Memorial Scholarship was established by Alex’s parents to benefit a full-time student enrolled in an electrical or automotive program who currently resides in Montgomery, Bucks, Luzerne or Lackawanna county.

AADE Appalachian Basin Chapter Scholarship was established by the Appalachian Basin Chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers to benefit a student enrolled in short-term nondegree courses that lead to a CDL license and that directly support drilling companies associated with the natural gas industry.

Alvin Bush Family Scholarship was established by Al and Betty Bush to benefit students who are graduates of a high school located in Lycoming County enrolled in a business administration major with a concentration in banking & finance, human resources management, management, or marketing and have participated in community service and/or student government activities as a high school and/or college student.

Schramm Inc. Endowed Scholarship was established by Schramm Inc. to benefit students enrolled in the heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis associate-degree program.

John Joseph & Eva Girio Pellegrino Scholarship was established by Frank Pellegrino to benefit students in the School of Hospitality or School of Business & Computer Technologies who reside in Lycoming County.

Glenwood Cheslock Industrial Design Scholarship was established by Williamsport Technical Institute alumnus Glenwood Cheslock, ’57, to benefit students in the computer-aided product design bachelor-degree program or the computer-aided drafting technology associate-degree program.

Small Business Entrepreneurship Scholarship was established by faculty in Penn College’s School of Business and Computer Technologies and initially funded from proceeds from a Principles of Management class project. The scholarship will benefit students who have declared a small business minor and have taken small business management and successfully earned 30 or more credits toward their baccalaureate degree.

United Concordia Dental Hygiene Scholarship was established by United Concordia to benefit students in the dental hygiene program who have a demonstrated commitment to community service.

Robert T. Wheeland Scholarship was established by Robert and Sandra Wheeland to benefit students in the forest technology program who are graduates of Liberty High School or Southern Tioga High School.

Richard Fetter Business Management Marketing Scholarship was established by Williamsport Area Community College alumnus Richard Fetter, ’75, to benefit students in the business administration bachelor-degree program with a marketing concentration who reside in Selinsgrove.

Marcellus Measurement Endowed Scholarship was established by Ryan English of J-W Measurement in Montoursville to benefit students enrolled in the electronics and computer engineering technology major who have successfully completed two semesters of study.

Penn College Education Association Scholarship was established by the association to benefit students in any major who reside in Pennsylvania who are of sophomore status or higher.

Information Technology Scholarship was established by faculty in Penn College’s Information Technology department to benefit students in the information technology bachelor-degree program that are in their third year of study in the program.

Carl & Bonnie Erdly Memorial Endowed Scholarship established by their son, W.A.C.C. alumnus Jeff Erdly, ’72, to benefit students enrolled in any program who reside in Columbia, Northumberland, Snyder or Union counties.
