New Scholarships

Penn College and the Penn College Foundation established 18 new scholarship funds in 2009-2010.

 1Mid-Atlantic Equipment Management Association Scholarship established by an industry association in Maryland to benefit students in heavy construction equipment technology with the technician emphasis.

 2J&M Construction Specialty Scholarship established by J&M Construction Specialty Inc. for students in a Bachelor of Science program within the School of Construction and Design Technologies.

 3William & Sara Pickelner Memorial Scholarship established by the Penn College Foundation Board of Directors through a bequest from the estate of William Pickelner to benefit students from Lycoming County.

 4Barbara Johnson Memorial Pastry Arts Scholarship established by Scott and Becky (Johnson) Yeagle in memory of Becky’s mother, who graduated from Penn College in 1992. The scholarship will benefit students in the baking and pastry arts associate-degree program.

 5Joseph Younes Memorial Scholarship established by Linda Younes in memory of longtime faculty member Joseph Younes for students in building automation technology, electrical or electromechanical bachelor-degree program; or electrical technology or electromechanical maintenance technology associate-degree programs.

 6Girio Family Scholarship established by George and Patricia Girio and Joseph and Cheryl Girio to benefit students in accounting, business administration, information technology or technology management within the School of Business and Computer Technologies.

 7Blaise Alexander Family Scholarship established by Blaise Alexander to benefit full-time students residing in Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan and Union counties.

 8James Bower Family Scholarship established by James and Cynthia Mengel Bower to benefit students residing in the Pennsylvania counties of Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Tioga, Sullivan or Union.

 9Joshua R. Geary Memorial Scholarship established by Joshua’s family to benefit a full-time student in the business administration program with a concentration in banking and finance or any program in the School of Business and Computer Technologies who is a graduate of the Williamsport Area School District.

10Robert & Patricia Shoff Rambo Scholarship established by retired faculty member Pat Rambo to benefit students enrolled in the accounting or legal assistant/paralegal studies bachelor degree programs.

11Devin Mattern Memorial Scholarship established by Devin’s parents, Debra and Randy Mattern, to benefit students from Indian Valley High School who are enrolled in the electronics and computer engineering technology: robotics and automation emphasis program.

12Russell & Betty Bridgens Memorial Scholarship established by Marc Bridgens, dean of the School of Construction and Design Technologies, in memory of his parents to benefit students enrolled in the plumbing certificate or HVAC-plumbing emphasis associate-degree program.

13Oletta Alford Memorial Scholarship established by Mort Neely in memory of a former student who was trying to escape the cycle of poverty. The scholarship will benefit students in similar circumstances.

14Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship established by the Phi Theta Kappa honor society to benefit members who commit to transferring from their current two-year degree program to a four year degree program.

15Donald J. Myers Jr. Memorial Scholarship established by alumnus Brian Myers ’98 in memory of his father to benefit students enrolled in the information technology: web and applications development concentration or information technology: web and applications technology emphasis programs.

16Stoltzfus Family Scholarship established by Kay Stoltzfus to benefit students who are members of the First Assembly of God in Hamburg and residents of Berks or Schuylkill counties.

17Richard Lauchle Memorial Scholarship established by the Keystone Wood Products Association to benefit students in the forest technology program.

18York Club of Printing House Craftsmen Scholarship established by a professional association in York County to benefit students residing in Cumberland or York counties and enrolled in the graphic communications technology program.
