Alison Dillon
Director, National Sustainable Structures Center

Alison Dillon is responsible for the overall leadership and vision for NSSC's infrastructure, training programs, and technical assistance services. Alison provides direction in developing NSSC's residential and commercial offerings in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region. She is also a key advisor for PA's Weatherization Assistance Program, a member of the National Weatherization Trainers Consortium, and actively engages the U.S. Department of Energy's National Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals. She serves as the team's instructional designer in developing and improving NSSC's curricula. Alison is a BPI Envelope Specialist, an EPA Certified Lead Renovator, and a Level 1 Thermographer.

John Manz
Director of Special Initiatives, National Sustainable Structures Center

John Manz

John Manz is a nationally-certified instructor and seasoned technical expert in residential and commercial building science and HVAC. His primary role is managing NSSC's special initiatives for key clients, including in-field technical assistance to support quality control inspections, teaching building science courses on a variety of topics, and establishing training relationships with stakeholders in the Mid-Atlantic. John is a key technical advisor for PA's Weatherization Assistance Program and assisted the U.S. Department of Energy's efforts to draft the National Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals. John has a diverse background in teaching vocational and HVAC technology, weatherization, and building science principles as well as owning several highly successful HVAC companies.

Gerald Welshans

Gerald Welshans

Gerald "Jerry" Welshans is a nationally-certified instructor and subject matter expert in building maintenance technology, energy efficient retrofits, and building science instruction. Jerry is a Level 1 Thermographer, a BPI “Super Proctor”, and holds BPI certifications for Building Analyst, Envelope Specialist, Heating Specialist, Multifamily, and all four of the Home Energy Professional job classifications. He also serves as an instructor for NSSC's Building Operator training programs. Prior to working at Penn College, Jerry was a general science and vocational teacher as well as a building maintenance staff member responsible for air distribution and heating systems in commercial buildings. In addition, Jerry is a fourth-generation retired farmer, a second-generation butcher, and a retired Rescue Officer, all of which have given him specialized emergency medical experience that proves invaluable in teaching crew safety topics.

John Wilson

John Wilson

John "Jack" Wilson is a nationally-certified instructor and a subject matter expert in building science, combustion safety, and ventilation in both the residential and commercial building energy retrofit fields. He is a Level 1 Thermographer, a BPI Proctor, and holds BPI certifications for Building Analyst, Envelope Specialist, Heating Specialist, Multifamily, and all four of the Home Energy Professional job classifications. Jack's primary responsibility is managing NSSC's Building Operator training programs, including providing instruction for the Building Operator Certification and Commercial Building Re-Tuning. His background is in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing trades in residential and light commercial new construction.
