This course will cover building science principles, building components, house as a system approach,and methods and techniques for the installation of weatherization materials. Participants will practice hands-on application of weather stripping, insulation, ventilation, drywall repair, window glazing, caulking, hand and power tools, measuring, personal and jobsite safety measures, ductwork solutions, air sealing measures, and attic access doors. This course is approximately 30% presentation and 70% hands-on application and tool/equipment training in the lab. This course requires participant participation in classroom and lab exercises as well as a passing grade (70% or above) in both of the end-of-course exams: written and lab. Course hours: 29.
