Tips for searching for environmental information in the Library Catalog and Databases

1. Use the Library Catalog to find a book in the Madigan Library on your topic.
Enter your topic as a keyword and click Search.  Leave field label "words or phrase."

2. Use ProQuest Research Library to find a full-text popular or scholarly article on your topic.
Click on the Advanced Search tab and do a simple search with your topic and ideas. If you are unsure about whether the article you find is popular or scholarly, check the link on the course guide or ask for help at the Reference Desk.

Proquest Search

3. Search GEOBASE to find another scholarly article.

Not all of our databases include the full-text of all articles you may identify.  So how can you check to see if they are available in another database or here in the library?  Simply click on the LinkSource icon and a window will open that displays a link to the full-text in another database, a link to search our catalog for the journal or magazine the article was published in, or a link to ILLiad interlibrary loan that allows you to request the article from another library.
