About the Library

The Roger and Peggy Madigan Library located along Maynard Street and visible from the heavily-traveled Route 180/220 highway. It is situated adjacent to the Alvin C. Bush Campus Center and the Student Administrative Services Center. The Library is 104,000 square-foot facility which meets the standards of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).

The library houses a collection of more than 117,000 items in support of the curriculum, including print and electronic collections supporting the curriculum of about 45 programs. The overall collection is growing at a rate of 6,000 titles per year to support curriculum and student research needs.

Online access to more than 10,000 full text periodicals and books in 80 subscription databases and including CINAHL, LexisNexis Academic, ProQuest ABI/INFORM Research, Applied Science and Technology Abstracts, and Campus Research (Westlaw).

Our Mission

The services, resources, and programs of the Madigan Library are fundamental to the educational mission of the Pennsylvania College of Technology and to the teaching and learning process. We strive, with the College as a whole, to empower students to become life-long learners who can function independently and collaboratively. Specifically, the mission of the Madigan Library is to support and advance the instructional and research needs of its students, faculty and staff. We do so by building, maintaining, and providing access to collections in all formats, by assisting and instructing our patrons in their use, and by creating a physical environment that enhances the learning process.

Program Specific Collections

The Earth Science Center and Aviation Center have  program-specific collections to support the curriculum and student assignments. The Earth Sciences Center and the library were renovated in 1999.

The main library is open 97.5 hours per week during the academic year, including late evening and weekend hours. To get more complete hours for the semester, summer, breaks, and our closures view the Library Hours page.
