In August of 1968, the first take of ""Dear Prudence"" was recorded, a song, whichJohn Lennon penned about Mia Farrow's sister, Prudence, when she wouldn't \""come out and play, with Mia and the Beatles at a religious retreat in India. On a hot,August night, a couple of years later a young mother called her new baby girl Prudence, and together they greeted the brand new day.
Before joining Penn College, Prudence, aWilliamsport native, attended local schools and graduated with a B.A. inPsychology and anInstructional I (K-8) teaching certificate from Lycoming College. Her interest inlibraries sparked when she discovered her passion for cataloging. She has spent several years adding Spanish materials to library catalogs all across the U.S. while working forBrodart Company.
Intrigued by the world of information retrieval, Prudence specialized in technical services and earned a Master in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Her interest inlibrary accessibility for Spanish-speakers led to her completion of two intensivelanguage study courses abroad, the pursuit of a Graduate Certificate inLatin American Studies, and the honor of being awarded theCLAS Field Research Grant to study Spanish language subject access. She truly had a unique experience learning about the academic library catalog of theUniversidad de Guadalajara. Prudence espouses the philosophy that cataloging is a public service.
In her leisure time, Prudence enjoys going to themovies, watchingice hockey games, listening to all kinds of music, and attending as manyconcerts as she can afford.
