Judy's ancestors arrived in Williamsport in the late 1700's from Germany, Scotland and Ireland and she has lived here most of her life. Her great grandfather fought in the Civil War, owned a grist mill on Loyalsock Creek and farmed many acres. Judy has also lived in Williamsburg, Virginia, Vicksburg, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana and came full circle back to Williamsport, home of Little League. Although she enjoyed the cuisine and culture in other parts of the country, her heart is really here in central Pennsylvania with its beautiful mountains, lush streams and prolific wildlife.
Judy coordinates the faculty outreach initiatives. Selecting books and creating Research Library Guides for the Health Sciences and Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management as well as teaching information literacy classes in these areas are her major responsibilities. She encourages students to create lifelong library skills that will help them be successful. She enjoys guiding students in their research at the reference desk and helping to eliminate "library anxiety".
Judy graduated from Williamsport High School, which is now the Penn College Klump Academic Center, and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a high school teaching certificate from Malone College (formerly Malone College) in Canton, Ohio. She earned her Master's of Science in Library Science degree from Clarion University while working full time. She is an Associate Professor and has been a librarian at Penn College since 1989. Judy is a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association, Central Pennsylvania Health Sciences Library Association (CPHSLA), and the Pine Creek Preservation Association.
She is married and has a daughter, a son and four grandchildren. Judy enjoys reading, bird watching, baseball, walking, photography, fine cuisine and live theatre productions.
