Personnel will be available to direct individuals and groups to areas of interest. Look for individuals wearing the "Ask Me" buttons at the tables in the lobbies of the Campus Center (CC), the Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center (ATHS), and the Lifelong Education Center outside of the Susquehanna Room.

Demonstration of a Vibration Analysis

Using the Adobe InDesign software program on a Mac computer along with a digital camera, you will create a picture of yourself suitable for framing. Cardiovascular Technology
Come and find out about the affiliation between Geisinger Medical Center and Penn College. Go three years to Penn College and finish your fourth year at the Geisinger Medical Center School of Cardiovascular Technology. When you are all finished you will have a BS in Applied Health Science and also a diploma from the CVT school, and be able to begin working right away as a Cardiovascular Technologist assisting doctors in doing cardiac catheterizations.

Simple Nursing Procedures
This hands-on workshop will allow students the opportunity to learn about the latest nursing technology. Using SimMan or Nursing Anne, students will learn how to take a patient’s pulse, and receive a demonstration on how this type of simulation technology is utilized in nursing education to enhance learning. Students will also see how well they wash their hands utilizing the Glo-Germ hand-washing system.

Skills for the Job of Living
Students will have hands-on experience exploring treatment activities commonly used in occupational therapy practice. Students will explore activities to develop fine motor skills and balance in pediatric clients. To experience treatment for a client with a physical disability, students will participate in one-handed activities and complete an obstacle course from a wheelchair.

Radiography: What Is it?
Students will identify various human skeletal bones and then will be given the opportunity to see how x-rays are used to produce an image (Radiograph). The students will be shown how x-rays work, expose a phantom body part and then develop the film in the darkroom. Each student will be given a radiograph of a phantom body part to take home with them.

Health and Fitness Assessments
This hands-on workshop will allow students to experience a fitness training session and learn how fitness professionals conduct assessments to obtain a person’s fitness level. Students will play the role of personal trainers and actively perform fitness assessments. Students will also get an overview of our Physical Fitness Specialist major and career possibilities. Participating students must wear sneakers and comfortable clothing for personal safety.

Build a 3-D Model of a House
Join us as we build a 3-D model of a house using Google Sketchup. Each student will use computer software to generate their own 3-D house, complete with doors, windows, walls, roof and finish materials. Once the models are complete, the students will create an animation of their house.

Physician Assistants and Exploring the Tools of the Trade
Physician Assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and in virtually all states can write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Students wishing to explore this career will be given the opportunity to get hands on experience with the tools of our trade.
