Central Pennsylvania Tech Prep Consortium Key Components

Six key components to developing and providing Tech Prep programs in Pennsylvania

  1. Articulation and Programs of Study
    • The Central PA Tech Prep Consortium develops Tech Prep programs and scope and sequences providing students with a non-duplicative sequence of courses leading to the completion of a Tech Prep program. Currently, Pennsylvania College of Technology has an online system that provides Tech Prep programs the opportunity to add and update articulation agreements. This process permits agreements to be updated annually.
  2. Curriculum
    • Looking for some cutting edge technical and workplace curriculum? Visit the Outreach for K-12 Curriculum Resource page and explore the wide array of industry-validated competency lists, lesson planning guides and other resources.

Would you like your students to take a sample mathematics college placement exam? Take a look at the Penn College's Math Department's website and give them the opportunity to take these exams online. Students can now see how well they are prepared for college-level mathematics.
  3. Professional Development
    • Visit the Outreach for K-12 website to find events and professional development opportunities. Events such as the bi-annual Educator and Counselor Day which is provided specifically for educators, counselors and administrators to get some in-service and learn about Penn College’s majors. In-service training is also provided for teachers, counselors, faculty and administrators on how to properly use the Career Education and Work Standards to support Tech Prep.
  4. Reporting Data
    • Do you need help finding or reporting data, assistance to CTC’s and school districts in the submission of data required for the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS)?

You can request current data about your group of students who attend Penn College. Requests must come from an administrator of a career and technical center or school district. Requests can be made by emailing CareerEd@pct.edu.
  5. Special Populations
  6. Preparatory Services
    • Potential Tech Prep students are extended preparatory services through Tech Prep Career Days, Smart Girls events, Friday Camps for dual enrollment students and other events for students. Many of these events are shared events between the Central PA Tech Prep Consortium and Penn College.

Funds for this website are provided under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006, Title II Tech Prep Education.
