Key Component 3: Professional Development

Events for Educators

The Central Region Tech Prep Consortium will support In-service Professional Development for Teachers/Faculty and Administrators and Professional Development Programs for Counselors by:

  • Providing training to career and technical education and academic teachers and faculty and administrators on how to implement a POS.
  • Ensuring that teachers, faculty and administrators and counselors stay current with the needs, expectations and methods of business and all aspects of an industry. [Link to Central PA Gold Medal Initiative]
  • Providing training to secondary and postsecondary academic and technical education faculty in the use of contextual and applied curricula, instruction and assessment.
  • Providing training in the use and application of technology that aligns with industry certifications for POS implementation.
  • Providing a plan for in-service training related to POS for Middle and Secondary Teachers, Postsecondary Faculty and Administrators.
  • Coordinating efforts to train counselors to enable them to more effectively provide information to the students regarding POS.
  • Coordinating efforts to ensure student progress in completing POS which may include the use of graduation and career plans in accordance with the PA Academic Standards for Career Education and Work.   • Coordinating efforts for transition services to postsecondary “Program of Study” completers interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
